By the time founder Bill Mischler pulled the first residential building permit ever issued in Palmetto Bluff, Genesis Construction had already spent decades building trust, relationships, and homes across the Lowcountry. From the beginning, Genesis earned a reputation as a thoughtful, craftsman-driven builder—one that understood clients deeply and worked seamlessly with architects. Many architects even selected Genesis to build their own homes, becoming one of the company’s earliest and most loyal sources of referrals.
Because the people behind the work matter as much as the work itself, Genesis gathered a network of the region’s most respected craftsmen and subcontractors. The company became known not only for artistry in the field, but also for the same level of care in communication, planning, finance, and follow-through. This consistency earned Genesis preferred status among vendors, subcontractors, and clients alike.
That foundation of trust carried naturally into Palmetto Bluff. Genesis was selected by the developer as the community’s first home builder and was asked to help establish the construction standards for Wilson Village, the first residential neighborhood. This early role set the stage for a long, deeply rooted relationship with a place central to the company’s story.
A decade into Alex Haynes’ leadership, Genesis Construction continues to be guided by the same principles on which it was founded: integrity, craftsmanship, and a deep commitment to client relationships. With an extensive portfolio of successful projects in Palmetto Bluff and throughout the Lowcountry, Alex brings seasoned leadership and continuity to a company built on trust.
Alex’s connection to Palmetto Bluff stretches back to childhood, long before it became a private community. After earning his degree in Construction Management, he returned to the Lowcountry and helped shape many of Palmetto Bluff’s most recognized public spaces, including the Canoe Club, the Lodge, the Fitness buildings, the Wilson Landing Ships’ Store, and the River Road Amenity Center. That early work reflects the same attention to detail and sense of place that define Genesis homes today.
Founder Bill Mischler remains involved in an advisory, of-counsel role, offering perspective earned over decades of building in the region. Together, with Alex leading the charge, their shared values continue to guide Genesis, ensuring that every home is built with intention, every relationship is valued, and the legacy of the company moves forward without losing its foundation.
“What sets Genesis apart,” Alex often says, “is the level of detail.”
Quality detail is what clients notice first, but it extends far beyond what meets the eye, into the plans, the structure, the finances, and the long-term performance of the home. Genesis is committed to building generational homes designed to stand the test of time. When visible craftsmanship is exquisitely executed, clients can trust that the same care has been applied to everything they cannot see.
This philosophy shapes how Genesis researches materials, selects products, and builds for longevity. As a debt-free company with decades-long vendor relationships and not a single lien ever placed on a job Genesis offers clients stability and confidence throughout the entire process. The relationship does not end at move-in. Genesis continues to maintain many of the original homes it built in Palmetto Bluff, reinforcing the belief that every homeowner is a lifelong client.
The second generation of Genesis is not a reinvention—it is the continued expression of a story rooted in integrity, craftsmanship, and enduring relationships. The legacy carries forward, always beginning again, guided by the same principles on which the company was founded.

“This house has that same quality. There’s nothing obvious about it that makes you say, ‘This is an EarthCraft house,’ but the difference is incredible.”
“The true test after building a house is when someone asks, “What would you do differently?” Here, I can’t think of a single thing – and I feel the same about the team who created it.”
